Rocket City has been home for over a decade for Dr. Elisabeth O’Connor. Making her house a home are her husband Brian, their two sons, Avery and James, and their dog Bailey. A career in mechanical engineering brought her here in 2009 after graduating from Georgia Tech. She later chose to follow her childhood passion and become a veterinarian. After a stint at North Carolina State University to earn her doctorate in veterinary medicine, she returned to north Alabama to start her dream career. Her special interests include geriatric quality of life care, preventative medicine, client education and pain control.
When she’s not in the clinic, she enjoys painting, singing, attending church, chasing around her two little boys and ballroom dancing with her husband.

Dr. Jorge Acosta has been living in the Athens area for the past twenty years. He graduated with an Associates of Sciences degree from Calhoun Community College before transferring to Athens State University where he graduated with a Bachelor of Biology and a minor in Chemistry summa cum laude. Dr. Acosta then went on to graduate from Auburn University College of Veterinary Medicine before coming back to Athens to begin practicing at Limestone Veterinary Clinic. His special interests in veterinary medicine include internal medicine, orthopedics, and dermatology. Dr. Acosta is also currently a member of the Athens Rotary Club.
Dr. Acosta is committed to caring, quality companion animal care and believes that his job is to not only treat the patient but to educate the owner as well as include them as an integral part of the treatment team. He is a subscriber to the quote “The client doesn’t care how much you know until they know how much you care.” He is a strong proponent of public health along with animal welfare and enjoys providing health care services for the Athens-Limestone Animal Shelter which he has worked with for the past 10 years.
At home Dr. Acosta enjoys spending time with his family which includes his two cats (Twilight Sparkles and Beastie). His interests include fishing, hiking, cooking and spending time in nature.
Amanda has been our practice manager ring leader for the past two years. She joined us from the world of quality control. She is a mother of five and spends her free time enjoying muscle cars and motorcycles. She has four dogs including Lucy.
Janet has been a cornerstone of Limestone Veterinary Clinic for the past two decades. She is the first friendly voice you’ll hear on the phone and the first smile you’ll see when entering the clinic. She is eager to help and very knowledgeable. Janet is an active member in her church where she volunteers her time in children’s ministry. Her dog Paddy (pictured) is almost as spoiled as all of her beloved grandchildren.
Melody has been working at Limestone Veterinary Clinic for about three years. She’s ready to hear about your pets needs and will get you scheduled in prompt fashion. Prior to entering the veterinary field, Melody worked as an elementary teacher for over thirty years. When she’s not at work she spends time with her fur babies Willow (pictured) and Phife and her four grandsons.
Desiria has been working in the veterinary field for the past three years. We were lucky enough for her to join us here at Limestone Veterinary Clinic a year ago. She graduated with a Bachelors in Biology from the University of North Alabama in 2021. She’s a dog mom of two, Trina and Chevy.
Jayme has been working at Limestone Veterinary Clinic for a year now. She has a long history of nurturing animals as a child and continues her menagerie today including two beloved snakes. She is the first one to make friends with a patient who has been labeled aggressive. Her slow and steady, fearless temperament make her a huge asset to our clinic.
Kourtney is our designated cat wrangler. She can take a fractious cat and turn them into a loaf of fluff with her sweet as pie personality. She has been working at Limestone Veterinary Clinic for the past two years. She frequently house sits for patients needing at home care.
Molly has aspirations of being a veterinarian, therefore, she has been getting her feet wet by working at Limestone Veterinary Clinic while finishing high school. She has a collection of pets at home including her Guinea Pig Drake
